Note: This documentation references the GlobalProtect VPN client, launching at Olin on January 14, 2025. Click here for information about connecting using the legacy Ivanti Secure Access Client before January 14, 2025.
Before connecting, be sure that you have installed the GlobalProtect VPN client.
Locate the GlobalProtect VPN icon on your computer
- Windows computers: The icon is located in the System Tray in the lower-right corner of your screen.

- MacOS computers: The icon is located in the Status Menu area of the Menu Bar in the top-right corner of your screen.

Open GlobalProtect VPN to Connect
Click the GlobalProtect VPN icon to display the application window.

The Portal address should list vpn.olin.edu. Click Connect to connect to the VPN. You will be prompted for your Olin Single Sign-On credentials with Multi-Factor Authentication. When the VPN has connected you will briefly see the Connected window, which should hide automatically.

Disconnecting from the VPN
Click the GlobalProtect VPN icon to open the status window. Click the blue Disconnect button to disconnect from the VPN.

Switch between Full Tunnel and Split Tunnel VPN

Click the GlobalProtect VPN icon to open the status window. Open the Change Gateway menu to switch between Full Tunnel and Split Tunnel configuration. When you switch the configuration, the VPN client will disconnect and re-connect to the VPN gateway.


Setting your Preferred Gateway (Full Tunnel or Split Tunnel)
After you connect to the VPN, and have selected either Full Tunnel or Split Tunnel on the status window, you can set your current configuration as your preferred VPN tunnel configuration. Click the GlobalProtect VPN icon to open the status window. Click the star next to the gateway name (Full Tunnel or Split Tunnel). When the preferred configuration is set, the star will turn yellow. The next time you connect to the VPN, your preferred VPN tunnel will be automatically selected.
