First off, congratulations! This article covers the laptop off-boarding process and what to expect while running the application. The application will start by walking you through creating a new account on the laptop, and then attempting to copy files from your local Downloads, Pictures, Desktop, Documents, Music, Videos, and Favorites folders. It will not copy over files that are in your OneDrive Folder and it will not delete any files, they will still be accessible in the event the application fails. It will then disable BitLocker if enabled and uninstall Crowdstrike AntiVirus, Olin's VPN software, and Dell Support Assist for Business as you will lose access to these applications anyways. After all of that, it will then try to remove the laptop from various systems to prevent your laptop from being inaccessible when you are converted to Alumni.
You will first notice that when you go to log into your laptop, you will be met with a message before you can log in that states:
ACTION NEEDED, Please contact Olin IT about off-boarding your PC!,
If you do not, your device may become unusable after graduation.
Don't worry as that will be removed after you have ran the Off-Boarding Application. Please see the following video and steps of the process:
- Open up Olin Software (or Company Portal if Olin Software) if not on your desktop:

- You should see the Application "Off-Board My Device" in a few places: At the top of the homepage of Olin Software / Company Portal, in the "Featured Apps" section on the homepage, or listed in the Apps section:

- Once you click on the app, you will be greeted with an Install button, and a description on the right hand side that states what the app does:

- After it downloads and starts, a message will pop up giving a brief overview and asking you to close and save any open applications:

- Once you click OK, it will then start downloading dependencies for the application to run. As stated, this may take several minutes depending on your Internet connection and if you feel like it's been 5+ minutes and it has stalled, you may hit the Enter key on your keyboard to push it along. Hitting Enter before it finishes downloading/installing will not interfere with anything, but will not speed things up.

- Once this finishes, you will be asked to backup your bookmarks. Once you do so, please hit OK to continue to the username and password creation prompts for your new, "local" account that you will be signing into your laptop with. Please do not use ^ or $ in your password(it should prevent you).

- The application will begin copying your files to the new profile, uninstalling some applications that will soon b inaccessible with your Olin account, and modifies the system to prevent future issues. When ti finishes up, a pop-up will state that you may need to go to "Other User" and type in your new username that you set in the previous step as .\USERNAME. It's likely you will only need to select your new Username in the bottom left of the login screen. After confirming, a final pop-up will show that will initiate a restart 30 seconds after hitting OK. If you still have applications open, please close them and hit OK.

- After it reboots, you may need to go to "Other User"in the bottom left of the login screen, and type in your new username that you set in the previous step as .\USERNAME. It's likely you will only need to select your new Username instead.

- That's it! If you have any issues, please contact the Help Desk and; if possible, provide the log file located at the root of the C:\ Drive called "OffboardDeviceLog.txt"
