Updated text instructions:

  • Open printer settings
  • Select “additional printer settings”
  • Select “add”
  • Open the printer in the web interface, copy its name, for example: wh237x01.olin.edu. You can also use the IP address that is labeled on the printer instead.

Paste this into the box labeled “Enter Device URI”, but proceeded with https://

The whole West Hall example is https://wh237x01.olin.edu

  • When it asks about drivers/PPD files, pick “Generic”, then pick “IPP everywhere”
  • It asked me about additional hardware. I just skipped that screen and said no.
  • Name it what you like
  • You can print a test page if you want to test that it works or not.

After this, you should be able to directly print from any application, or use the lp utility from the command line.
